Says committed to success of Swachhata campaign

SAMBA, DECEMBER 31 (KNO) : The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today launched the Swachhata App, an application formulated by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies Jammu for immediate grievance redressal of issues of sanitation and Swachhata, which would cater to the 15 municipal committees and councils of Jammu division including Kathua, Katra, Udhampur, Reasi, Doda, Samba, Poonch, Lakhanpur, Hiranagar, Bhaderwah, Akhnoor, Arnia, Chenani, Nowshera and Jourian. Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Vice Chairman, Kissan Development Board, D S Chib, Legislators, Dr D K Manyal, Kuldeep Raj, Vibodh Gupta and Pradeep Sharma also attended the function organized at Samba Fort. Deputy Commissioner Samba Sheetal Nanda and other officers of the district administration and Urban Local Bodies Jammu were also present on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Dr Singh said the government is committed to ensure that the Swachhata campaign launched by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi would be a success in the state. He said by ensuring clean and hygienic surroundings we would also be contributing our bit in keeping the environment clean and healthy, which inturn would ensure that the spread of certain communicable disease and related ailments is also checked. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the instructions have already been passed down the line to the concerned departments to ensure neat and clean surroundings are maintained throughout the state. He said that we have also directed for ensuring solid waste management is also done in such a manner that people do not face any inconvenience. Referring to the initiatives launched in the Housing and Urban Development sector, the Deputy Chief Minister said that they would ensure that our state gets the requisite modern facilities of the urban living and it comes up as one of the models of the nation. He said that strict instructions stand issued to ensure that these are completed within the stipulated time lines. Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga while speaking on the occasion highlighted the initiatives being taken by the government in ensuring clean environment and surroundings. He said several initiatives stand already taken in the solid waste management programme which would ensure its proper disposal.(KNO)
